Paddler Quotes
"What a great day Saturday was! Sure it rained a bit and there was thunder and lightning, but there was also lots of great racing, music, Hawaiian dancing, food and fun! For those of you who could not be there - we missed you! For those NCAWPA paddlers who participated - awesome job! And for those who worked so hard to put this festival on - thank you. It was another Monumental success!" -Ken King, 2009
"The 2008 Washington Monumental was my first East Coast outrigger race! My husband and I had moved from Hawaii to the DC area just 4 months before this race. While the racing is much different here than in Hawaii, I cannot tell you how much fun and excitement we had that day on the docks along the Anacostia River! Other East Coast teams traveled from all over, including Canada! The National Capital Area Outrigger teams, and the rest of the East Coast teams instantly became my new ohana. We miss Hawaii more than one could imagine. But here with NCA and my East Coast ohana, we bring Hawaii with us wherever we travel! Aloha nui loa!"
